Your Chance to Nominate Local Achievers
It's the time of year to nominate worthy members of our community for a 2008 Australia Day Award.
Remember that people nominated for Australia Day Award do not have to be famous. Most of the time they are the quiet achievers - the people working hard behind the scenes for the betterment of their community.
Think about a community member, a teacher, a friend, a neighbour or a relative who has made a difference in the lives of others.
The Australia Day Awards really belong to the people of this Shire. This is our opportunity to recognise the achievements of these inspirational people who accomplish and give back so much to our community.
Council is particularly keen to receive nominations for young people for the Youth Citizen of the Year and for the junior categories in the areas of sports, volunteer work, culture and the environment.
Nominations are being sought for the Johnstone Shire Australia Day Awards from all backgrounds and all fields of endeavour including recognition for the Community Event of the Year.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Citizen & Youth Citizen of the Year
- Excellence Award
- Community Event of the Year
- Sports, Junior Sports & Sports Administration
- Volunteer & Junior Volunteer
- Culture & Junior Culture
- Environment & Junior Environment
Nomination forms are now available at Council’s Customer Services Department or on Council's website and nominations will close on the 14th of January 2008.
