Motion for Council Meeting 26 May 2005
Following receipt of advice dated 23 May 2005 from the Minister for Local Government and Planning that Council may adopt its proposed IPA planning scheme as submitted to the Department of Local Government. Planning, Sport and Recreation on 11 April 2005 including amendments received (by the Department) on 19 April and 2 May 2005, that Council adopt the planning scheme and associated planning scheme policies and their effective date be Monday 20 June 2005.

The Planning Scheme regulates development within Johnstone Shire, including:
- where land uses (material change of use) eg shops, packing sheds, industry, can occur in the Shire and what conditions may be required;
- what size allotments can be created through subdivision (reconfiguration of a lot); and
- how to protect cultural heritage, natural environment, and visual amenity while protecting life and property from hazards.
