Private Education in the Johnstone Shire is provided by 3 Catholic Primary Schools and 1 Catholic High School.

The major factors impacting on education in the Johnstone Shire at this time include:

•   Economic pressures on families in rural areas - drop in student numbers and time enrolled at any one school.
•   Shorter harvesting seasons have resulted in an increase in student itinerancy.
•   School based management practices enables response to community issues and aspirations.
•   A need to harness interagency resources to address student welfare issues
